TWENTY FIVE STEPS

Pinot Noir by Akarua

Menthol and fruit leather on the nose, with raspberries. Ripe red fruits up front, followed by some baking spice and fine grain tannins. A little bit of minerality and wild thyme rounds out the medium finish on this wine.

Food match: We paired this with a blue cheese, butternut squash, and leek risotto. Must mention that the leeks and squash were home grown in containers!

The vineyard site for this wine is unique in New Zealand. Stepped, and exposed. These are young vines, and already yeilding great fruit. We are keen to see how this wine develops, but also the next vintages from this site. We had a tasting at the cellar door today, and it inspired dinner!
