ATOMIC BOMB #2
NV Piquette Naturel by BK Wines
Your first sniff is taken up by the autolytic aromas from this natural and unfermented wine. On second go, you get a bit of sour cherry candies, and tomato leaf. On the palate, the mousse is explosive and creamy. There is a bit of sournesses up front that lovers of lambic beers will instantly recognize. Flavours of rhubarb follow, and the finish is decidedly short in a pleasant way.
Food match: Given the simple, slightly sour nature of this wine, it’s certainly best on its own.
Piquette is a lovely choice for that mid afternoon drink. Light in alcohol and intensity, it’s a great place to start… remember friends, it is a marathon not a sprint.
